Markedyears covers Markedyears. This page describes the information handled when you read markedyears.com and the control you have over it.
What We Hold
Visiting markedyears.com may generate ordinary technical information — IP address, browser and device type, referring page, and the pages opened. Anything you type in yourself, such as an email address for the newsletter or a name against a comment, is collected only because you chose to provide it.
- Specific to Markedyears: we ask readers not to send us sensitive personal details, and we delete rather than retain anything of that kind that reaches us unprompted.
Children and Young People
Readers are assumed to be adults. We neither target nor knowingly collect information from children below 13, or below 16 in jurisdictions setting that limit; such information is deleted if found.
Processing Purposes
The information is used to keep the site working, to understand which of our guides, comparisons and reference pages are actually read, to send the newsletter to people who asked for it, and — where advertising is served — to support that advertising.
Storage and Safeguards
Storage is time-limited and purpose-limited. Subscriber and comment data goes when you withdraw it; analytics data expires on schedule. The site is served over HTTPS, access to what we hold is restricted, and safeguards are kept proportionate to the data involved. No safeguard is perfect.
Cookies and Tracking
There is a dedicated Cookie Policy covering what is stored on your device and how to control it.
Where advertising is served, third-party vendors including Google may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet. You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of a third-party vendor’s use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info.
Your Control
Subject to your location, you may request access to your data, its correction or deletion, a portable copy, or restriction of its use, and you may opt out of sale or sharing for advertising. These entitlements flow from the UK/EU GDPR and from US state law including the CCPA/CPRA. Global Privacy Control signals are respected automatically. See our State Privacy Notice and Do Not Sell or Share.
If You Subscribe
Email goes only to people who asked for it, verified by a double opt-in step. Each send includes an unsubscribe link and a postal address, and unsubscribing takes effect straight away.
Third-Party Services
Providers in the chain include the host that serves markedyears.com, any analytics tool we run, the mailing platform, and ad networks where advertising appears. Where those parties set their own purposes they are independent controllers, and you should read their notices as well as this one.
